Settings Guide
Settings controls everything about how BodySitRep works for you: which trackers are active, how the app looks, what defaults are used, and how Utilities behave.
How to open Settings
Tap the gear icon in the bottom navigation bar. Settings opens as a page with collapsible sections. Tap any section title to expand it.
Your Profile
This is where you manage your personal information: display name, date of birth, sex, military status, city, state, and race. All personal information is encrypted. Military status determines whether you get 5 bonus trackers for free (Military Fitness, Daily PT, Nicotine, Hydration, Caffeine).
Changes save automatically. You do not need to look for a save button.
App Preferences
Toggle the Daily Checklist on or off here. When you turn it on, a "Today" tab appears in your navigation. When you turn it off, the tab disappears but your streak data is preserved.
Time Zone and Display
Choose your time zone so timestamps on your entries are correct. Select 12-hour or 24-hour time format. Pick light or dark theme.
Medication Reminders
If you take medications on a schedule, turn on medication reminders. Set how many minutes before a dose you want to be reminded (0, 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes). Enable refill reminders to get notified when your supply is running low.
Utilities
This section lets you customize Notebook, Gallery, and Shopping behavior.
Notebook settings
- Show tracker log notes. When on, Notebook pulls real notes from your tracker entries. Turn off if you only want to see personal notes you wrote directly in Notebook.
- Include manual notes in By Day. When on, the By Day view includes your personal Notebook entries alongside tracker notes. Turn off if you want By Day to show only tracker notes.
- Default view. Choose which Notebook tab opens first: My Notes, By Tracker, or By Day.
- Note range. How far back Notebook looks for notes: 30 days, 90 days, or 180 days. A shorter range loads faster.
Gallery settings
- Show device-only notice. Turn off if you do not want to see the "photos stored on this device" banner every time you open Gallery.
- Sort. Choose newest first or oldest first.
- Group by. Choose All Photos, By Day, or By Tracker. Currently only All Photos is active, but the setting is ready for future options.
Shopping settings
- Show recent items when adding. Turn off if you do not want to see the Frequently Purchased section on the list screen.
- Confirm before checkout. Turn on if you want a confirmation prompt before completing a shopping trip.
- Sort list by. Choose how your shopping list is ordered: newest added first, grouped by category, or alphabetical.
Manage Logs
This is the most important section. Here you control which trackers are active and how they behave.
Enabling and disabling trackers
Each tracker has a toggle. Turn it on to make it appear on your Home screen and in the Daily Checklist. Turn it off to hide it. Disabling a tracker does not delete your data. You can re-enable it later and all your old entries will still be there.
Your plan determines how many trackers you can have enabled at once. The Free plan allows a limited number. Plus and Pro allow more. The current count is shown at the top of this section.
Quick Log access
Each enabled tracker can be toggled for Quick Log access. When enabled, that tracker appears in the Quick Log section on the Home screen for fast one-tap entry.
Smart Defaults
For each tracker, you can set default values for commonly used fields. If you always take your blood pressure sitting on your left arm, set those as defaults. Every time you open the Blood Pressure form, those fields will be pre-filled. You can still change them for individual entries.
Smart Defaults have their own Save button. Make your changes, then tap "Save Defaults."
Reordering trackers
You can drag trackers to reorder them. The order you set here controls how they appear on the Home screen and in the Daily Checklist. Put your most important trackers at the top.
Account actions
At the bottom of Settings, you will find:
- Reports & Exports. Generate PDF reports, download CSV data, or create a full JSON backup. Export for yourself, pets, or caregiver dependents.
- Reset settings. Returns all settings to their defaults. Does not delete your log data.
- Sign out. Logs you out of the app.
Tips
- Most settings auto-save. Change a toggle and it takes effect immediately.
- Smart Defaults are the biggest time-saver. Set them for your top 3 trackers.
- If the app feels crowded, disable trackers you are not actively using. You can always bring them back.
- Check your time zone if timestamps look wrong. It affects all your entries.
