Stress and Blood Pressure

Stress spikes your BP. Track both to prove it.

Published March 30, 2026

The stress-BP connection

Acute stress causes temporary blood pressure spikes. Chronic stress contributes to sustained hypertension. Tracking both shows your provider whether high readings are stress-related or persistent, which affects treatment decisions.

What to track

Log Blood Pressure (with notes about current stress level) and Stress or Mood daily. Note specifically stressful events. After 2 to 4 weeks, compare your highest BP readings against stress levels from the same day.
